Balance exercises are one of the key components to help seniors improve their balance and reduce the risk and frequency of falling. Many medical studies have been performed to demonstrate the effectiveness of balance exercises on fall reduction.

Balance exercises were looked at by the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) in their study: Prevention of Falls in Community-Dwelling Older Adults: U.S. Preventive Services Task Force Recommendation Statement.

Their recommendations are as follows: The USPSTF recommends exercise or physical therapy and vitamin D supplementation to prevent falls in community-dwelling adults aged 65 years or older who are at increased risk for falls.
